In a thousand splendid suns, the author exaggerates the severe language used by the mother to show, her attitude and sadness about her fear that Mariam will leave her alone, and so she resists anything new in her daughter’s life that might take her away from the kolba. Since Mariam is very hostile in other words unfriendly,She continuously feeds the girl blackmail or options that there is no other life for her outside of her childhood home and her mother’s influence, thats why her mother treats Mariam in such a way.
